Gente di Musicastrada

“Musicastrada People” takes you on an all-embracing journey through the Tuscan music festival of the same name, focusing not only on the event but also on the audience.

Using a specially built set next to the stage, I took photographs of the festival goers before and after the concerts.

The idea behind the project was for me to meld not only with the music but also with the local area, the people and the audiences, sharing moments with them so that I could get a first-hand taste of feelings and traditions carried on the Tuscan breeze and see them from the fresh perspective of a traveller from another part of the world. I discovered a sense of poetry as I embraced different ways of experiencing life by the stage, among the streets and alleys of the towns and villages visited by the Musicastrada festival.

People often define their sense of identity through their musical taste, wearing particular clothes, going to certain pubs, and using certain types of slang.
It’s not surprising that personality should also be related to musical preference.
